Laxton is a rural village in Nottinghamshire, going back to the Norman Conquest.

Nowadays visitors can see the castle site at the northern edge of the village of Laxton Nottinghamshire, and witness Nottinghamshires best preserved motte and bailey castle.

One can also view the attractive, and pleasant, church that dates from the 12th century and is still regularly used to this day.

Nevertheless, what makes Laxton really special is its continued use of the Medieval Open Field Farming System.

This is the last open field system in Europe and one can explore the fields by yourself or have a tour with a local, which we can happily organise if you want.
