CCNA exam success depends partially on knowing the details of ISDN, and there are plenty of them! To help you review for your CCNA exam, here are a few ISDN details that you must know on exam day. (They help in the real world, too – and there are still plenty of ISDN networks out there!

The Cisco-proprietary version of HDLC is the default encapsulation type for serial and ISDN interfaces.

R2#show interface serial0

Serial0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is HD64570

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1544 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, rely 255/255, load 1/255

Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)

While there’s only one D-channel in BRI, PRI (US) and PRI (EU), the bandwidth of that D-channel does vary from BRI to PRI. It’s 16 kbps in BRI and 64 kbps in both PRI versions.

The global command isdn switch-type must be configured before you can even begin to have ISDN work. show isdn status will tell you whether or not you’ve done this correctly.

R2#show isdn status

**** No Global ISDN Switchtype currently defined ****

ISDN BRI0 interface

dsl 0, interface ISDN Switchtype = none

Layer 1 Status:

DEACTIVATED

Layer 2 Status:

Layer 2 NOT Activated

Layer 3 Status:

0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)

PAP allows passwords to be different; CHAP requires that they be the same.

PAP requires the “ppp pap sent-username” interface-level command. CHAP has no equivalent command.

Define interesting traffic with dialer-list and link that list to the interface with dialer-group.

R2#conf t

R2(config)#dialer-list 1 proto ip permit

R2(config)#int bri0

R2(config-if)#dialer-group 1

The dialer idle-timeout value is expressed in seconds, not minutes. (Even IOS Help isn’t totally clear on this.)

R2(config)#int bri0

R2(config-if)#dialer-group 1

R2(config-if)#dialer idle-timeout ?

<1-2147483> Idle timeout before disconnecting a call

R2(config-if)#dialer idle-timeout 120

Dialer map maps a remote IP address to a remote phone number. You never dial the local router’s phone number.

dialer load-threshold requires the ppp multilink command to be configured, and the value of dialer load-threshold is expressed as a ratio of 255, NOT 100. For example, if you want the second b-channel to come up when the first reaches 50% of capacity, the value to express with dialer load-threshold would be 50% of 255 – which equals 127.

R2(config)#int bri0

R2(config-if)#encap ppp

R2(config-if)#ppp multilink

R2(config-if)#dialer load-threshold ?

<1-255> Load threshold to place another call

The traditional approach to implementing an intranet is to purchase a software package, modify it for your needs, and install it on your system.

Over the past few years, another option has grown in popularity – the implementation of a web-based solution.

As you consider the choice between installed software and a web-based intranet, here are some considerations:

1. The most important requirement of any intranet is that everyone uses it.

To assure broad-based participation, the intranet must be easy to implement, simple to use, cost-effective to maintain, and offer each individual user the power to post, access and use content in a way that serves their specific needs. In short, the intranet must have value to everyone.

Web-based intranets are designed around this concept. The interface and navigation are consistent with their use of the web – an environment in which they feel in control, using familiar tools.

In contrast, the business world is littered with countless elegant and feature-rich soft-ware based intranets that have failed. Why? Because they represented an alien environment into which the user was expected to venture. Few employees had the time or the interest (or courage) to enter, rendering the intranet impotent, with the powerful tools unused.

This is the plight of traditional, out-of-the-box software solutions. Unlike web-based intranets, they force users into a constrained environment requiring in-depth training, built around rules designed for the group, rather than the individual.

2. Software intranets have unpredictable costs: in time, attention and money.

Software based solutions require extensive internal support. The ongoing expense in both staff time and money takes the focus of your IT group away from mission-critical tasks.

System integration, Implementation, maintenance, technology upgrades, training and user support are all on-going tasks that represent a significant, recurring investment. The cost can be substantial, far exceeding your initial license cost and monthly fee.

3. Web-based intranets offer a predictable cost and cutting-edge technology.

Most web-based solutions offer a fixed monthly fee that covers all maintenance, technology upgrades, training and user support. The costs are predictable, the technology evolutionary, and it’s all done with minimal involvement of your IT staff.

It’s for these reasons that companies needing broad-based participation in a changing environment are choosing web-based intranets over traditional software solutions.

Links for debt management help

With January 2009 nearly upon us I started thinking about the likelihood of people needing help with personal finance issues. I’m thinking debt management here in particular . . . I imagine that many consumers will have over spent in the Christmas period and that a few will wake up with a bit of a financial hangover.

I put together a quick list of useful debt management resources where my readers will be able to find lots of useful information on personal debt and debt management issues. Please note that I’m not endorsing any of the resources . . . they’re just a list of useful websites I found when researching debt management.

The sites are a mix of commercial, not-for profit and informational resources offering a wide range of help and advice with debt management, including debt management plans, free debt management plans and general personal finance advice.

As ever, I’d suggest you use your own judgement when using this debt management resource list:

PS: from what I understand, debt management is the process of negotiating reduced monthly payments on your debts with your creditors. It appears that there are two or three routes you can take depending on your needs – professional services (fee payable), voluntary services & do it yourself:

As you get ready to pass the CCNA or CCNP exams, you can feel quite a bit of stress as you enter your last week of study. Let’s take a look at a few ways to reduce that stress.

1. Do not stay up late cramming. The CCNA and CCNP are not exams you’re going to pass by cramming. “Cramming” is a study technique best left behind in junior high school. The CCNA can’t be passed by memorization – you’ve got to know how Cisco technologies work. That leads us to the second point…

2. Get lots of rest. By far, this is the most overlooked factor on exam day. The CCNA and CCNP exams are going to demand your best. You’re going to be performing subnetting, binary and hex conversions, analyzing network diagrams for troubleshooting, and much more. You’ve got to be mentally sharp. You can add 100 points to your exam score just by showing up well-rested. And let’s be realistic – if you don’t know something at 11 PM the night before your exam, you’re not going to learn it overnight. Get some sleep!

3. Get everything together the night before the exam. You don’t want to be running around the house the morning of the exam looking for your keys. Make sure you have your keys and your ID the night before the exam.

4. Know where the testing center is. If you’ve never been to the center you’ll be passing the CCNA in before, go there before the morning of the exam. Do not rely on Mapquest or a friend’s directions. You don’t want to be late for your exam.

5. Allow for traffic. Many CCNA and CCNP candidates prefer to take their exams in the morning. Again, if you haven’t been to the exam center before, you should drive there during morning rush hour traffic before your exam date to make sure you have enough time to get there. You don’t want to be sitting in traffic when you should be sitting in the exam room!

If you are in a printing company and you have piled customers on the rush, of course you wouldn’t want to tell them to wait or run into other printing presses for their prints. This will be not good for your reputation. Thanks to the new printers, printing jobs no matter how large and outsized, they can be printed on time. Sometimes deadline can be very deadly and impossible to produce but with the new trend in printing, it’s never really that hard. Printing the impossible can be possible. This has been a breakthrough in printing since printing companies have been competently evolving and making their own standard in the modern technology.

For some people, they will usually think that printing is very costly and used for professional use only. That thinking is wrong. As long as it counts with the likes of printing, it can be suitable. But of course it still limits with the print. If you want to produce prints at a large number, ask you printing company to do it but if you will print only a few, guess that wouldn’t be really a burden to you.

Modern technology has resolved the problem in poor printing. When you see outputs of prints with the use of digital and inkjet printers, you will be amazed of the colors. It catches every little drop of ink in the right place with stunning colors. To ensure great prints, you need to have the right materials and inks are important as well as the papers. Paper quality is helpful in producing great prints. It really goes along with managing prints evenly.

Since digital printing can print so many prints in no time, you definitely need a big source of paper. Digital printing speeds up printing and is still growing with technology. Thanks to the makers of the new-age printers, printing has ever been reliable. Meeting the deadliest deadline will never be impossible plus work is at its best output! You get to satisfy the needs of your customers plus earn points in keeping your business name high.

At least now business companies will not be frightened of keeping in line and standard with their customers. They will also comply with what they call print that is in demand. So if you want to have your prints done, don’t have the second thought of printing it digitally.

This Meta tag is usually placed beneath the title and Meta description tags in the section of your pages’ HTML code, like this: your DESCRIPTIVE KEYWORDS title goes here If this Meta tag were a child, it would be put into a foster home due to all the abuse it has received over the years! Once upon a time, in the prehistoric days of the Internet (1995?), Meta keyword tags were a great little tool for the search engines to use to help them determine how to rank sites in their search results. When the engines’ databases were small, this Meta tag was a quick, easy method to help decide which keywords might be important on a site. However, as always happens with anything this simple, people began to abuse it. People (spammers) began to put keywords into the Meta tag that had nothing to do with the content of their site. Because they knew lots of people were searching with the keyword “sex,” for instance, they’d put that word in their meta tags a number of times to bring visitors to their site, even though their site had nothing to do with sex! Personally, I don’t quite understand that logic, because it brings in untargeted visitors but apparently the goal was to bring in traffic, period. Over time, less and less weight was given to poor abused Meta tags, and more and more weight was given to the actual content of the pages. Today the Meta keyword tag is quietly living in its foster home and is fairly irrelevant to getting a page ranked high. If you were pressed for time and had to give up one Meta tag, this would be the one to give up. To be sure, some engines still do index the words within these Meta tags, but it appears that they use them as a minor supplement to the text in the body copy and title tags of your Web pages. Since the search engines use a wide variety of factors to determine site rankings, optimizing a page to rank high is a cumulative effort. You should use everything available to you that the engines might give some weight, and therefore you should certainly use Meta tags (including the Meta keyword tag), along with every other legitimate, acceptable technique available. At best, it may help boost your site a bit in those engines that still read them. At worst, it won’t hurt your rankings (unless you brazenly keywords stuff them). I still use these Meta tags on clients’ Web sites, but don’t bother with them on my own sites.

What Should I Put in these Meta Tags? First let’s recap what needs to be done before you attempt to create Meta keyword tags (ideally these things should be done before the Web site is ever created):

* Choose your relevant keywords. * Write the site’s content based on these keywords. * * Create a title tag using the same keywords. * Create a Meta description tag as a marketing sentence, also based on these keywords. Once you do the above things properly, putting together your Meta keyword tag is a very simple procedure. I usually begin putting the keywords I used in the title of my page in the Meta keyword tag. The first words in any tag are assumed to be given more weight, so these are most important. Then I go through each paragraph of text on the page and take any important phrases that might be used in the copy and paste them into the Meta keyword tag. I usually separate the phrases with a comma and no space. This is simply a personal preference. Using no commas at all in this tag is basically the same thing, since most engines appear to treat commas as a space. After I get every important word or phrase from the text on the page, I add some common misspellings of some of these same words. I know for a fact that in the past, this could bring some traffic from some engines, most notably AltaVista. What about Keyword Repetition? Another common abuse of Meta keyword tags was — and still is — the repetition of words. Spammers found that if they repeated keywords enough times in this meta tag, the search engines would “think” they were relevant to the page and perhaps give it a high ranking for those keywords. Because of this abuse, too much repetition will now hurt you rather than help you. Never insert the same word twice in a row in this tag, even if you’re using different variations. (Plurals, ALL CAPS, different tenses, etc.) You can use the same word in different phrases, but never use that word more than three or four times within the tag, even if you’re using different variations of it. That’s about all there is to it! If everyone treated these Meta tags with the type of respect they deserve and only put relevant keywords into it, perhaps we could get it out of its foster home and back to its rightful place in the family of Meta tags! software development company India

Not accounting for weather conditions there are a few things that influence how high and far a golf ball will fly.

The first thing is the spin of the ball.

A ball must spin to be able to fly through the air. The spin rate is measured in “rpm” or revolutions per minute.

A driver, because of it’s lower degree of angle on it’s face will produce less spin than a wedge which has a a higher lofted face. A driver may have a 10 degree loft while a wedge may have a 60 degree loft. The wedge will produce much more spin on a ball than a driver will. This is why the ball gets in the air much quicker with a wedge than with a driver.

As the balls spins faster it creates less pressure on top of the ball than under it. This creates lift. As the balls slows down the lift is decreased until the ball eventuallly looses lift and height and gravity takes over. Just like an airplane wing.

The spin of the ball has to be clockwise. If struck properly, the ball actually spins towards you as it flies through the air. If you top the ball, and produce a counter clockwsie spin, or the ball spins away from you, the normal result is that the ball falls to the ground much quicker.

Another factor are the dimples on the ball.

The dimples on a golf ball have everything to do with the areodynamics of the ball. The dimples create a restless boundry of air around the ball, technically called lift. Larger dimples creates more turbulance which produces less lift. Flatter dimples create a smoother flow of air over the ball and thus more lift.

For example the Maxfli 432 dimple pattern is made up of 12 pentagons and 20 triangles based on a icosidodecahedron. Six circles define the pattern and generally this pattern stands for distance and control in a ball.

The Maxfli 408 dimple pattern consists of 6 squares and 8 hexagons based on a octahedron. This is a “crossover” dimple pattern and some of the patterns have the contour of a ball while others have the contour of a saucer. This dimple size, contours and allocation on the ball, contribute to a good distance ball.

The Maxfli 402 dimple pattern (Noodle), has 20 triangles, 30 squares, and 12 pentagons based on a rhombicosidodecahedron. This pattern provides excellent flight qualities. Many weekend golfers use the Noodle because it gives them a better trajectory, better lift!

No golfer can afford to ignore golf exercise and fitness programs which have become part and parcel of the modern golf game.

There are actually several reasons why it is good idea to pay attention to golf exercise and fitness.

The era of golf exercise and fitness, as well as golf-specific conditioning programs were ushered in by golfers like Tiger Woods and Annika Sorendstam for the women.

Never before had the world witnessed such physically fit professional golfers who were involved in regular exercise programs and who played the game while in superior physical condition.

Admittedly this new breed of golfers went against the grain. For years the game of golf has been viewed as a luxurious leisure sport where correct golf technique was much more important than exercises and muscle conditioning.

This image has changed literally overnight in golf courses around the world because of the tremendous and awesome impact the new breed of golfers like Tiger Woods brought into the game.

The truth of the matter is that more and more golfers are involved in golf exercise and fitness workouts. But be careful. There are many fitness professionals who have no background in golf, but realize the market for golf fitness and say they have ‘golf-specific’ training programs only to apply general fitness (machine training) to your golf improvement program.

These types of programs will not prepare your body to play your best golf. The training for golf is completely different and should be done by a qualified and certified golf fitness professional.

The easiest way to tell if a fitness professional knows golf is to ask a few golf technique questions to test their knowledge. If they hesitate or cannot answer these basic questions…run! Do not work with them.

A credible and qualified golf fitness professional will apply golf exercise and fitness tips and techniques that will improve your current physical limitations, which will enable you to perform a repeatedly sound mechanically golf swing for 18 holes.

Another added benefit of a golf exercise and fitness program is injury prevention. Statistics have shown that over 80% of all amatuer golfers have played with some kind of injury at one point in the golfing career.

The most common golf injuries is the low back, elbow and shoulders. These injuries are caused completely be a physically declining strength and flexibility and can easily be avoided with a proper golf exercise and fitness program.

The only downfall is the expense. You’re looking at $40 to $150 per session. That is exactly why I put together the first online golf training performance program over 5 years ago. To make it affordable and easy-to-do right off your computer and in your home saving time and money.

You can view online video demonstrations of every exercise, with easy-to-understand step-by-step instructions that can be printed off for ease of use. There is even a complete section on golf performance issues like driving distance, consistency, mental golf, putting and motivation.

Understanding how your body is positively or negatively affecting your game is the first step in realizing how a golf exercise and fitness program can literally change your game overnight!

TR Cutler, Inc., (www.trcutlerinc.com), is the nation’s largest manufacturing marketing and public relations firm, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Reducing lead times through detailed flow techniques is the concept of a kanban system with a “push” manufacturing environment. IT managers are asked to develop methods for implementation of digital kanban systems, because a leaner production method is not created by paper (or card) kanban instructions that result in lost orders, duplicated orders, or supplier confusion. Constant breakdowns in information flow are a common problem in the manufacturing sector. While there may be no obvious connection between Digital Kanban and Linux, according to Justin Diana, Vice-President of Datacraft Solutions, “Linux makes better economic sense to develop or run a digital kanban solution versus Windows.” According to Diana, “There is a paradigm shift in the investment and development community relative to “open source” technologies. The benefits that come from a global base of developers have made many of the open source technologies move to the forefront in many application areas.”

“What If You Could… Have the perfect group golf vacation, save money and have a sensational time setting it up?” Instead of buying “the package”, design your own optimum, personalized vacation.

Remember last year?

You waited all year to get together with your friends for your annual golf vacation. It was supposed to be perfect, but you bought “the package” and your outing turned out to be simply adequate. You all had such high hopes, but you had to take what the package provided.

Sound familiar? Have you been on the receiving side of a less than perfect golf vacation? In all fairness, most golf packages are good. Some are great. But they truly are packages designed for the mass market with little flexibility and no individual flair.

A standard golf vacation package provides lodging and one round of golf per day, including a cart. The lodging usually means motel or hotel accommodations with two people per bedroom. In most cases, you can choose from several different courses, and select your advance tee times. They will even throw in a continental breakfast. The prices are fair, but varying from the standard package starts adding cost in a hurry.

Again, “the package” will yield a good to great vacation, but we need to discuss the perfect vacation. Envision this:

-A beautiful vacation house with a separate bed or bedroom for each person.
-Gourmet dining each evening.
-As much or as little golf as you want, where you want and when you want.
-Evening entertainment.
-Maximum camaraderie.

I have been setting up this type of annual golf vacation for my old high school and college friends since 1988. Over those 18 years, we have refined Our Event to what we think is the perfect annual outing. Our first few years were terrific even though we had to keep the costs down. Each new year improves on the last.

We have settled on a full seven days, Saturday to Saturday. In general, we schedule 36 holes per day, and modify that day by day to wind up with an average of about 27 holes per day. Our smallest group was five gents one year, and the largest group was sixteen. The perfect group size is eight, but anywhere from six to twelve works great.

We buy most of the food and beverages the day of arrival to support breakfasts, snacks, sandwiches between rounds, and gourmet evening meals for the entire week.

Your perfect group golf vacation is not going to be identical to ours, but the general organization will be. There is going to have to be a “go to guy” that organizes the event. My guess is that will be you. You will need to:

– Get the ball rolling early.
– Have everyone stay in the same house that has a full kitchen.
– Get the shopping list together ahead of time.
– Have a general schedule and loose assignments.

1. Get the ball rolling. Pick out a window of time and get the word out to everyone you think might be interested AND not interested (next year, they may be). I send a fun, whimsical email about five months ahead of a proposed block of time. It is written such that the wives enjoy the comedy as much as the guys. If you are not a writer, there are examples in my upcoming free Ebook. Additionally, this book will take you through setting up and conducting the whole event from scratch.

Follow up emails get commitments and solicit recommendations and special requests. Armed with all this, you will select the ideal house, set up tee times, and arrange rental vehicles. Further emails from you will ask what food, snacks and beverages they will want for the outing. Here is a good timeline:

-5 months: Announce.
-3 months: Receive all commitments and solicited recommendations.
-3 months: Let everyone know when to fly in to coordinate travel.
-2 months: Arrange house, tee times and rental cars.
-1 month: Receive all food, snack, and beverage requests.
-1 month: Confirm house, tee times and rental cars.
-1 week: Finalize food and beverage list.
Zero hour: Have the time of your life.

2. House with a full kitchen. This allows several things:
-Preparing your own evening meal. Every group has at least one “chef”.
– Rehashing the day as a group (yes, this includes an appropriate amount of trash talk and begging for strokes on upcoming rounds.)
– Having evening entertainment as a group. We watch a sports event on TV, watch videos, play cards, tell tales and get caught up, or all of the above.
– Getting sandwiches, snacks and beverages ready for the next day.

3. Shopping List. In my free Ebook I provide a sample shopping list and sample emails to send requesting input. Your various emails to the group should provide a “fill in the blank” type of requested reply. You will ask what they want for breakfast, what they want for sandwich lunch, what they want to drink for the week, and any snacks they like.

4. General Schedule and Assignments. Your first year will be a terrific learning experience. Your “chef” will emerge and others will gravitate to where they are needed. Putting together a list of what needs to be done and having volunteers will work just fine. Over the years, you will find what works best.

Think about bringing a laptop and uploading each day’s results on your website so that the unfortunate people that did not make the trip can live vicariously by following the daily action. If you don’t have a website, a free blog will work about as well and will be much easier to update. An idea that our group has not yet acted on is having a masseuse come in one evening later in the week to help our aging muscles.

You will have almost as much fun setting up this event as you will have during your vacation. I set up a little eight page website with history, photos, schedule, past scores, etc. to hold everyone’s interest and attention throughout the year. An example is in my free Ebook.

Building your own special vacation not only allows you to really tailor your outing to your group’s tastes, but also allows you all to get together as a true group for a great week of camaraderie. As a bonus, it should wind up being less expensive! Once you set your own up, I doubt you will ever buy “the package” again.
